Jesse and his Site Homicide buddy Healey are shot at in Boston. Both are injured, Healey seriously. Jesse comes home to learn his ex-wife is enchanting in with her boyfriend; his employer, the Paradise Town Council is not cheerful with his performance as police chief specifically with his failure to man the hurry trap fair outside of town, and a woman from Unique Mexico thinks her long-ago kidnapped son is alive and well in Paradise. Add an Internal Affairs investigation conducted by an angst-ridden and glamorous officer to the mix (Jesse managed to fire a couple of shots at the gunman) and this is a satisfying addition to the series.

Thin Ice describes more than the narrative. This is the first of the Jesse Stone movies not based on a Robert Parker modern, there are differences in characters (I particularly missed Molly) and there’s an edgier feel to it. While there is quiet the fabulous repartee among the members of Paradise’s itsy-bitsy PD that is so characteristic of these stories, everyone seems uneasy and Jesse seems more self-destructive than in the past. Nevertheless, the valorous Jesse manages to sidestep Internal Affairs to decide the shooting, ferrets out the truth about the kidnapping, and as the movie ends, is on his arrangement to Do The Honest Thing. His future in Paradise is in put a question to as well as his personal relationships, and I’m joyful I read that there is another episode yet unreleased, so maybe the great issues will be resolved.

Tom Selleck’s fifth installment as Robert Parker’s alcoholic Police Chief, in “Jesse Stone: Thin Ice”, lacks the ironic edginess and humor of the previous films (based, for the first time, on unusual material, not a Parker modern), and the presence of Viola Davis as the heart of the itsy-bitsy Paradise Police Department is sorely missed, but Selleck is terrific, and the film will certainly please his fans!

As always, Stone is in hot water with the Paradise City Council; town revenue is down (as he had fired his department’s biggest ticket-writer), and he refuses to hire a Council member’s son-in-law to absorb the vacancy; and while in Boston in a borrowed Paradise police car, Stone and his buddy, Captain Healy (Stephen McHattie), are shot, with Stone under an Internal Affairs investigation for firing attend. More is on his plate, as well; a mother (Camryn Manheim) arrives in town, begging for his attend in finding her long-missing child, and his ex-wife informs him she plans to proceed in with her modern boyfriend. Needless to say, Stone is finding solace in the bottle, and verbally sparring with his shrink (William Devane) …but he doggedly searches for answers, despite the threats and suspicion.

The series ‘regulars’ (Kathy Baker and Kohl Sudduth, as Stone’s fellow Paradise cops, and William Sadler, as a Boston mobster) are unbelievable, as is Leslie Hope, portraying an IA investigator attracted to him…and Joe the Dog (as his mutt, Reggie), shines, as always (the canine is a hell of an actor!) . While the film has shortcomings, the performances are honorable, and Selleck is so natural as Stone, you may forget he was once Thomas Magnum…while the ending may be the darkest of the series, I’m certainly looking forward to the next Stone movie!

This 1965 multi-award winning film is a riveting portrait of a woman who deviously claws her scheme to the top, in search of “happiness and completion”. Julie Christe won an Oscar for her portrayal of Diana Scott, and manages to effect this “trivial and shallow” woman moving.

Frederick Raphael, who also won an Oscar for his work, wrote a myth and script that is the basis of what makes this a riveting film to view. Every scene makes sense, and every phrase has a purpose; there is not a single word that does not belong, or is unnecessary.

It is wonderfully photographed in a very crisp dusky and white by Ken Higgins, and has an unobtrusive but shapely catch by John Dankworth.

Director John Schlesinger brings out the best in even the bit players, and most of all, from Dirk Bogarde, who gives a heartbreaking, lustrous performance as one of Diana’s stepping stones. Laurence Harvey plays a vain and vile character with the snakelike coldness he is so great at, and of course, Christie is in her prime, and her beauty and talent shine quick-witted.

Though the atmoshpere of the film is caught in the ’60s, the tale and characters are timeless; this film deserves to be viewed, for its colossal performances, and as a portrait of how times change, but mighty of humanity stays the same, and selfish desires, even when delighted, are but clanging brass.

Winner of the 1965 Oscar for Best Actress, the attractive and pouty lipped Julie Christie gives a comely performance as an amoral mask girl, Diana Scott, in the swinging ’60s in London.

Diana, who is married, is having an affair with a married television correspondent, Robert Gold, played to perfection by the sexy and world weary, Dirk Bogarde. Eventually, they leave their respective mates and location up house together in swinging London. All is not hunky dory for long, as Julie goes on to have an affair with her agent, Miles, divinely played by Laurence Harvey. When Robert discovers her lies and infidelity, he leaves her.

Diana goes on to party hearty, and she ultimately meets a wealthy and widowed, Italian prince while on region in Italy shooting a commercial. After a perfunctory meeting, she meets up with him again, and he proposes. She thinks about his proposal, and ultimately consents to becoming Princess Diana.

Only after marrying him, a virtual stranger to her, does she realize how lonely she is. She finds herself being left in their palazzo with his seven children, while the prince is away, ostensibly visiting his mother without her. She realizes that she is living in a gilded cage, no more than a trophy wife.

She impulsively contacts Robert and flies to England to meet with him. After they perform esteem, she realizes how grand she loved him, and declares her feelings for him, only to be rebuffed. He then sends her packing, abet to her empty life in Italy. Yet, he does so at sizable emotional cost to himself, as well.

This film is very representative of the swinging sixties and conveys a steady sense of the joie de vivre of the period. It deals with subjects that were formerly taboo. There are subtle and sly references to homosexuality. Abortion and a woman’s sexuality are issues in the film and dealt with in a map with which these issues were not ordinarily dealt. While it may seem tame by today’s standards, this was very cutting edge in its time, and reflective of some of the changes which society, as a whole, was undergoing. This movie is definitely an oldie but a goodie.

This is my absorb favourite Argento movie, but if you try and work out the area it will drive you nuts. It’s best viewed as a sad and incredibly gory fairytale and companion-piece to Suspiria. Irene Miracle becomes intriguing about the history of the obsolete Original York mansion block where she lives. Expansive mistake, but oh forget the logic. Unprejudiced lap up the marvellous set-pieces: a swim through an underwater apartment (why is it flooded? don’t even ask!), a witchy teenager and a cat who materialise during a music tutorial, a slasher assassinate spot to the Slave’s Chorus from Nabucco, a rat attack in Central Park – I could go on but spy it for yourself. The soundtrack is an bold blend of Verdi and – wait for it – Keith Emerson. Sheer bliss.

The soundtrack – it’s Nabucco by Verdi alternating with Keith Emerson, who at one point does a twangy current rock version of the noted Slave’s Chorus, Va Pensiero! This is a film of magical, atmospheric and occasionally very gory set-pieces rather than any logical story, so anyone looking for a pacy status where everything is explained at the extinguish will be severely disappointed. The sage deals with the second of the Three Mothers first mentioned in Suspiria and flits between Fresh York, where a young woman discovers that the Art Deco apartment block where she lives harbours a deep, murky secret, and Rome, where her brother is a music student who is blissfully unaware that he and his friends are about to enter a world of distress. Watching it is like being immersed in a deliciously scary nightmare where you never quite understand what’s going on.

I have always enjoyed Mr. Bean and so and gratified to have the collection. I was only disappointed with this plot in that Mr. Beans Holiday was only the standard cloak version, not the widescreen. Mr. Bean the Movie has both versions, it seems rediculous not to do the same with Mr. Beans Holiday.

“Mr. Bean: The Ultimate Collection” is a seven-disc box region featuring the antics of Rowan Atkinson’s alter- ego, the long-legged, goofy-looking guy who manages to produce comical mayhem wherever he goes. Mr. Bean, whom Atkinson describes as a child in a grown man’s body, was created when Atkinson was a student at Oxford University. Borrowing from calm film techniques, Bean never speaks, relying instead on facial expressions, glimpse gags, and slapstick to milk laughs. Atkinson is Chaplinesque in the procedure he sets up gags, plants them, and then illustrates his mortification at how badly things have gone. We feel sorry for his sad-sack ineptness, but tranquil manage to laugh at his constant penchant for getting into awkward, frequently embarrassing fixes. I was reminded of Buster Keaton and even Lucille Ball, two folks who knew how to incorporate and spend props comically. Atkinson cites Jacques Tati’s earlier character, Mr. Hulot, as another influence.

The box position contains all fourteen episodes of the current series and the two feature films, “Bean: The Movie” and “Mr. Bean’s Holiday.” In addition, the situation contains the attractive series “It’s Not Easy Being Bean” and “Bean There, Done That.”

Bonus features include deleted scenes, never-before-seen-on-TV sketches, the documentary “The Account of Bean,” the 20-minute featurette “Making of the Tantalizing Series, a music video, and French versions of the feature films.

Here’s a movie for dog lovers, the elderly, children of divorce, FOBs (Friends of Birds), veteran Boy Scouts, people yearning for adventure, and anyone who has ever loved… and lost. Up is for everyone. It made me laugh out loud, and it made me scream.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Up! Click Here

I plan it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a terrorized young boy star-struck by a eminent explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become speedy friends, and instruct to one day fade to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they consume their dream home and fix it up, hoping to occupy it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through extinct age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a pleased marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s wound when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers halt in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and recede to Paradise Falls. A frail balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of intellectual balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a burly, doughty kid trying to acquire a scouting badge.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Up! Click Here

After landing in Paradise Falls, the frail man and the cramped boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a sizable rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of terminate calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his dark mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by graceful hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole unique world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, paunchy of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Bag another triumph for Pixar.

Someday, Pixar is going to do it — they’re going to fabricate an emotionally uninspiring, lackluster enthralling movie. But in the meantime, they’re mild putting out scrumptious titillating movies like “Up,” which defies the usual kid-movie conventions by starring a crotchety faded man. It’s a charming, fun tiny adventure tale with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet diminutive account about loss and like.

As a child, the terrorized Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared admire of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, depart into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a right estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an interested, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the amble. Awful kid was fair trying to glean an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle go to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a titanic emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious veteran man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the faded guy is very familiar to Carl — and to acquire Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as well-liked as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty obsolete coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can relish Carl’s like for his lost wife, and his dull realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they point to all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing broken-down together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy reach to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of tremendous dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Contemplate Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Wintry! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an extinct airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and obvious to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is sure to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special scrutinize. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I cherish you”) and act the blueprint dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to net shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of curious stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable spirited shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to screech potentially inappropriate baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously captivating, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can be pleased. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!
