“Four Rooms” is far more interesting than you would inquire from its generally negative reviews. Which is not to say that any of it is a masterpiece but if you enjoyed “Cherish American Style” on television and are not save off by a raunchy choose on that anthology opinion you should execute an misfortune to plan this film. “The Missing Ingredient” – Madona has simply never looked better and her “approach accept me” dress will burn your eyeballs. Alicia Witt plays her stock alienated teen and delivers sarcasm as only she can.

“The Evil Man” – Alexander Rockwell directed this segment shortly after directing “In the Soup” so he already knew how to collect the most out of Jennifer Beals. Her diatribe about Ted’s sex organ is a cinema classic.

“The Misbehavers” – Rodriquez directs his accepted actor Antonio Banderas in something that is a throwback to classic Laurel and Hardy. Not only do his two kids misbehave when left alone in their hotel room, but their misbehavior is so comprehensive that the closing shot reveals a room of total anarchy. It is amazing slapstick on a mammoth scale, with laughable timing reliable of the Laural and Hardy and the Marx Brothers.

“The Man From Hollywood” – This has the best script with Tarantino reserving the best stuff for his possess character. He even reprises the “tasty beverage” line from “Pulp Fiction. Beals has already found her draw to this room by the time bellboy Roth arrives and she delivers more proper lines. I was impressed that Tarantino built up his suspense “before” the contest began and then did not try to extend the suspense but ended things on the first attempt.

The best bit in the whole film might be Roth’s phone call to his boss. Marisa Tomei answers the phone in a room fat of comatose post-New Years Eve partygoers. She then does a version of her “My Cousin Vinnie” expert spy routine, this time concerning types of handguns. In the foreground the entire time are the only other conscious (but totally stoned) inhabitants of the room. They are playing against each other in a video game. One objective stares in unnerved fascination at the mask, holding the controller but not using it, as the other player maniacally manipulates the other controller throughout the entire phone conversation.

Then again, what do I know? I’m only a child.

This is a uncommon movie to talk about… Some people esteem it, some people detest it, and if you gaze it, you’ll understand why.

When you win each yarn individually, it can glean cumbersome and un-entertaining. But if you focus on Ted the Bellboy (Tim Roth), it becomes quite hilarious. His reactions to the situations he’s achieve it crack me up every time. Not to mention, in the third room Antonio Banderas once again makes me say, I want to be Antonio Banderas.

At any rate, this is a movie that you should leer at least once, because this movie defies easy recomendation. If you objective choose the word of people who don’t like it, you could miss out on a ample movie.

As for the DVD itself, it is completely lacking in features and the sound is unbiased a shrimp off, but after the first viewing you hardly perceive.

It loses a half star because the movie is definately one you have to be in a positive mood for, and one and a half stars because the DVD presentation is sub-par, but tranquil overall a obedient movie and worth buying the DVD if you really like it.

I knew prior to ordering this position, notice unseen, that it would be very trustworthy but it surpassed my expectations. The BBC is probably the foremost producer of outstanding nature documentaries and in this series lies the proof. The BBC Atlas explores how geology, and human history among other factors formed the Continents as we know them today. It covers how humans altered and adapted to life in Africa and Europe with astonishing visuals and fantastic photography. Ranging from pre-history legal up to the 21st century we sight how man and animals have co-existed through the ages and adapted to the environment as it has gone thru various changes. All the various narrators of segments are ample, especially Sir David Attenborough. I highly recommend both sets.

It might seem somewhat petty to sustain a 5-star rating from this area for one complaint, but for people buying this chiefly for David Attenborough’s “The First Eden,” it’s a sparkling mammoth complaint: It’s not complete. The 4th episode, “Strangers in the Garden,” is not included — at least nowhere that I can come by. Very unfamiliar, considering there are so many extra documentaries; you’re not merely getting the four main programs, but also shows about the Nile, Madagascar (mainly lemurs), Scandinavia, and Iceland. Couldn’t one of them have been left out to create room for the final episode of “The First Eden? ” Or even better, would it have been that powerful more pains to spread “The First Eden” over two discs and supplement it with another documentary like they did with the other programs?

Other than that one plight, this site is pleasing. If you liked “Planet Earth” and/or the various Attenborough “Life…” series, you can’t miss with this region. At over 1000 minutes, this what you call bang for your buck. Don’t hesitate, unless you’re only enthusiastic in getting the complete “First Eden.”

Yes, this is the myth of a genuine election, but it’s not a Presidential one. This is the first free election in Wuhan province and it is for ……. the class monitor of the third grade class at Wuhan Elementary School. With two boys and one girl – chosen by their teacher as candidates – Chen captures the events in dependable time. We she the parents (or “parent” in the case of the single-parent child) guiding them. But it’s engrossing to stare the tactics that the candidates fabricate for themselves.

The film is a short 58 minutes and there are no extras (except for the “Trailer” which is nothing more than a compilation of scenes from the film) . It’s in Mandarin with easy to read English subtitles.

Personally, I’d like to know the “backstory” of this film and how Chen chose to fabricate it but, on its maintain, this short film will definitely gain your attention and exhibit you that, though we reflect we’re different from other cultures, when it comes to politics we’re not that mighty different, some candidates are impartial older!

This is both an objective and an intimate documentary and it shows some of the truth of China. The film makes cases for both pro-democracy and anti-democracy arguments. It shows how timorous it is to have uneducated voters and an unregulated voting process in a democracy and it shows that without trusty democracy, an imitation can be cruel and low.

Soooo fellow geek classic monster collectors, yell me, does this sound familiar? You are perusing various sites and store DVD racks and you stumble across these 75th Anniversary editions of DRACULA and FRANKENSTEIN and your geek heart starts palpitating at the idea of digitally restored version of these films and you pick up all furious and you originate deciding which droll books you’ll give up this month to catch these instead…….but then you remember you’ve bought the last TWO previously released DVD versions of these films and now you wonder if these are worth it? OK….well…maybe this is kind of an exaggeration, but you know what I mean. I bowed to temptation because, well….Universal has me with their monster releases from method aid….period.

Soooo…..as it is obligatory when one has bought three releases of the same d@mn film, I sat down with them all and ran them through to determine which was the best of them. It is without seek information from IMO, that the DRACULA 75th DVD is the best transfer when compared to the 90’s (poster art), and the first LEGACY (green box art) releases. Picture-wise, the amount of speckles, noise and whatnot has been prick quite a bit. This is most apparent in the darker scenes. So on a generous notice, seeing less snowy junk pop up is nice. Some of the scenes also gawk less jittery. For example, in the previous releases, the scene when Frye first comes into Drac’s home and Lugosi is descending the staircase tedious him, the film image is really troubled…like watching a terrible bootleg. In this 75th release it looks stable and doesn’t have that funky aliasing stare. The overall record quality fair feels cleaner in this release. But there is calm a apt amount of junk throughout the film that this cannot possibly be considered the definitive restoration. Only some making the leap from VHS to DVD will secure their socks knocked of with this release. If you bought the other two, then you might be contented, but probably underwhelmed despite the splendid points. Like the FRANKENSTEIN release, this mild feels like a money making thing than an anniversary homage to this film especially after the promise of something fresh from a third dip. Some people may say that we can’t request great because the film is so ancient. But sorry, after THREE RELEASES, and most especially since this one is clearly the supposed icing-on-the-cake release so far, well, I judge Universal could have done even better than this, Mighty BETTER. Technology as it stands nowadays is very forgiving when cleaning up faded films…..but companies need to be willing to attach the money into using said technololgy. I would consider that even if the buying public of an older film such as this is miniature and Universal wasn’t going to pour a ton of cash into it, well, being the third time releasing the same d@mn movie, would it be noxious to select they’d have enough saved in the piggy bank to do a definitve restoration instead of this continued fleecing, but hey, guess that’s business. I assume if they DID do mighty better and THEY knew it, we would have gotten Modern SPECIAL FEATURES and none of the stuff that was already on the other two releases place for the one Lugos bit that is original here.

Sound-wise, I have to agree with other reviews that I have read that mention that the 90’s release had better sound. It did seem a bit crisper. But like the FRANKENSTEIN releases, picking the better sound with DRACULA is like picking the lesser o two evils…….do you want Niagra Falls somewhere in the background or do you want gentle rapids? To me, all of the background hissing and popping and rustling sounds funky on all of the releases, but they eventually impartial become section of the film. I don’t really have great of a preference as none have ever been so spruce that I could design myself care THAT grand.

VALUE: Hmmmmmm……..if you have the money, this is the best DRACULA to procure in terms of portray and such. But one has to ask themselves how grand they care about this film to fork over the cash for unbiased one film. If you are only marginally involved in this DRACULA, but detached want a copy, I’d go for the LEGACY status as that comes with other films and is the better value overall. This release is truly for the purists and gluttons for finacial punishment such as myself. Even though I have now three copies of this film, I have composed only managed to peruse it less than ten times since the first 90’s release since, even though a classic, I secure DRACULA mostly a uninteresting affair when watched repeatedly so I hafta bewitch it in like wine….boring…and over time. So my point is, one has to ask themselves, how great do you care to tumble the cash for yet another copy of this if you already have it?

PACKAGING: For the most section, identical to the green LEGACY sets. That is, the faux hardback book case that opens up to thunder two DVD’s. Only here, there is NO initiate window slipcover to protect the case. This seems kinda cheap since the case is a frosty, leather-ish ‘grained’ camouflage printed in matte sepia, which is nice. But it will succumb to scuffs and such mighty faster than the better protected LEGACY site.

OVERALL: Like the FRANKENSTEIN 75th….this is chilly if you got the money to upgrade. But for what it’s touted as, this composed is gets 50/50 from me. Honest hold in mind that the ‘definitve’ HD/BLUE RAY versions will approach at some point ……..or at least the first versions of -those- definitve versions…so we ain’t outta the woods yet.

This DVD is the “Jewel in the Crown” of the classic Universal dismay films released in that format. It includes a quality print of the Bella Lugosi DRACULA, with options to play the film with Philip Glass’ modern soundtrack; the so-called “Spanish” DRACULA starring Carlos Villarias; and a spicy documentary hosted by Carla Laemmle, who has a bit role in the Lugosi DRACULA and who was niece to Universal studio head Carl Laemmle. There is also an audio track by David J. Skal, production notes, and the like.

The Lugosi DRACULA is somewhat problematic. DRACULA had been previously (and illegally) filmed as the restful NOSFERATU, and a later stage adaptation proved a staple of the British theatre. When the stage play at last arrived in Current York, the title role fell to Bela Lugosi. Although Universal optioned the material, studio head Carl Laemmle was not involved about it; although European films were comfortable with the supernatural, American films were not, and Laemmle did not enjoy the public would fetch such an irrational yarn. Nor was Laemmle enthusiastic in Lugosi; if DRACULA was to be filmed, it would be filmed with Lon Chaney.

When Chaney died the hide role went to Lugosi by default, but there were further issues. Originally planned as a big-budget production, the deeping Tremendous Depression made the film’s box office possibilities seem even slighter than before and its budget was slice to the bone. And Todd Browning, who had been such a successful director of the macabre in the peaceful era, proved clumsy with sound. The resulting film was more than a slight clunky–but it had two things going for it: a apt first thirty minutes and Lugosi. Although Lugosi’s performance may seem excessively mannered by today’s standards, audiences of the 1930s found it terrifying–and even today, when the character of Dracula comes to mind, we are more likely to mediate of Lugosi than other actor that later played the role.

For a brief time after the advent of sound, several studios made foreign language versions of their productions. The “Spanish” DRACULA was one such film, and when the English language company wrapped for the day the Spanish speaking cast arrived and filmed through the night using the same sets. This gave the Spanish company the befriend of hindsight: they were perfectly aware of what the English language company was doing, and they deliberately situation out to best it. The result is a somewhat longer, more cohesive film with some of the most provocative visuals and camera work of the early sound era. But unfortunately, star Carlos Villarias was no Bella Lugosi: although worthy of his performance was more subtle than Lugosi’s, it was also less intimidating, and where today Lugosi seems mannered, Villarias seems unfortunately silly. In a perfect world, we would be able to insert the Lugosi performance into the “Spanish” Dracula. As it is, we are left with two deeply flawed but nonetheless animated films.

In their believe ways, both films proved incredibly influential, and it is difficult to imagine the evolution of the classic-style dismay film without reference to both the Lugosi and the “Spanish” DRACULA. The Lugosi film is not perfectly restored, but the print is very, very excellent, easily the best I have seen. The “Spanish” DRACULA has more problematic elements, partly due the fact that the film borrowed some scenic footage from the Lugosi version and snips of footage from earlier films (there even appears to be a brief clip of the ballet from the mute PHANTOM OF THE OPERA in the film) ; the film is sometimes gloomy, sometimes very spotted, but short of a cgi restoration this is probably as noble as it gets.

The Philip Glass soundtrack, which is optional, tends to divide viewers. The Lugosi DRACULA had virtually nothing in the procedure of soundtrack; the “Spanish” DRACULA faded music to a greater degree, but even so that degree is comparative. The Glass collect is often quite bright, but it is also as often intrusive as it is effective. Some feel it adds quite a bit to the film; others pick up it distracts. Whatever one’s reaction to the film, either English or Spanish language, or with or without the Glass regain, this is a worthy DVD package, and fans of classic scare will net it an almost inexhaustible pleasure. I cannot recommend it too strongly.

This show is awesome. After over 15 years it is about time Scooby got a new show. All the episodes on this DVD are great. The first episode is a really good. It has a groovy plot idea, making Fred and Velma get out of the way so Daphne can do some detective work. It wouldn’t be good for alot of episodes, because Fred and Velma rock, but it worked. Space Ape at the Cape is a really good episode with Velma winning a Nasa contest. It is great for Velma fans. The alien is creepy looking and the title is an important clue. 3-D Struction is good too. A dinosaur spirit comes to haunt the museum that stole his bones. Scooby and the gang are on the case. Velma also explains why she doesn’t wear make up and keeps her “natural look”. And the last episode is by far the best. Lots of classic Scooby stuff. Creepy ghosts, creepy suspects, creepy Supermarket of the Supernatural. It also has stuff like Scooby acting out what he is trying to say(1st word bat wings!?) and Daphne gets kidnapped. This TV show rocks! Don’t forget, the second season starts this fall on Kids WB!

I have the Scooby Doo Golden Collection and I think it’s great to have loads of Scooby Doo episodes together in one collection. These new episodes are great but giving us 4 at a time is not a good idea and I really think Warner would have been better off investing their time (as we would invest our money) in a First Season Box Set.

What we are given for now are four episodes running 22 minutes each. A couple of them have below average stories but the other two are up to scratch. The animation and color pallet are very bright and modern as is the soundtrack which incorporates more original music than the old school shows (which tended to re-use temp scores and source music over and over) but manages to work in familiar themes.

For Scooby Doo purists there is no sacrilege here. Shaggy and Scooby/Fred are performed by Casey Kasem and Frank Welker so there’s not too much of a divide between this and old school to distance older fans from the new show.

For what it is, the DVD presents the show absolutely flawlessly in 1.33:1 full frame with pretty active Dolby 2.0 surround and some minimal fluff extras. Buy it cheap and hope for a Season Box Set.

“Castle in the Sky” is a masterpiece of one of Japan’s finest filmakers. There is a simple artistry to Miyazaki’s stories. This is a children’s film, but it is in the tradition of children’s stories that appeal to all ages. A rare, pure fantasy, the film has the same magic as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” and other early Disney films.

I first saw this movie when it was released in US theaters as “Laputa the Floating Island.” The mythical floating island of Laputa is taken from Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels.” Like Swift, Miyazaki cloaks a political statement with a fantasy, giving deeper meaning to his epic. Environmentalism has always been central to his films, and “Castle in the Sky” is no exception.

Visual, the film is a literal flight of appreciate. Worthy of the film takes status in the air. Air pirates go in unwieldy flying machines. Giant dirigibles wing the skies. Depart by kite is an acceptable option. The animation is of the highest quality, as is the sound and acting.

The yarn may seem familiar to followers of animation. Miyazaki also work briefly on the script of “Nadia: Secret of Blue Water” using some of the same concepts. The tale was also adapted by Disney as their film “Atlantis,” sending the characters underground instead of up to the sky. However, “Castle in the Sky” is the record in it’s unusual, best compose.

I cannot recommend this film enough.

More than four years ago I rented the VHS tape of Kiki’s Delivery Service, and there was an ad for Castle in the Sky before it. It was listed as “coming soon.”

Since then, I’ve gotten the Japanese version of Castle in the Sky on DVD, and I savor it. However, I’m detached baffled by the fact that Disney has paid professional actors to explain the characters and gotten the film prepared for release in the US — even advertised it — and has since then unprejudiced sat on it.

It’s almost criminal to have such big films as Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, and Pon Poko in your possession and not section them with the English speaking world.

If and when they recognize the error of their ways and produce this film available, do yourself a favor and select it. We need to let the media juggernauts know how considerable we cherish Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

Not the greatest movie but a lot of skin. Also the acting and dialog wasn’t to good either but if you just want to see Asian women naked this is a movie for you.

In the third volume of the Lady Ninja Kasumi series, Kasumi befriends and later falls in love with a noble swordsman as they battle Hanzo and his crew to capture a secret scroll. Like the first two, Lady Ninja Kasmui Vol. 3 did not disappoint with the action and bloodletting and the steamy sex scenes. I love it.

Well, if this film doesn’t put hair on your chest, nothing will.

Look up ‘film noir’ in the dictionary and there should be a picture of Robert Mitchum in The Yakuza, alongside Bogie in The Maltese Falcon. It’s that good of a film.

The theme is about honor, or “giri.” The last bastion of manhood in an relativistic world ambivalent towards heroism, unsure about any values, moral or otherwise, and gone to hell.

Against this background, you may be a tad on the shady side of the law, but do you keep faith with your friends?
For that matter, would you risk taking a bullet for someone you personally loathe but whom you “owe” because he’s saved the life of your wife and child?

The plot begins when Mitchum is approached by an old army buddy that he hasn’t heard from in decades, save for the annual obligatory Christmas card. His daughter’s been kidnapped by Japanese mobsters and he needs his help.

As to Mitchum, his character is established in one line.
“You’ve been successful?”
Mitchum: “That depends on how you figure those things.”

True enough. He has no family, no friends, no one even remotely close. The film noir loner, now in his sixties.

He goes back to Japan, links up with the only woman he ever loved, and the one enemy who can help him gain entry into the dark world of the Yakuza; an ultra-traditionalist latter-day Samurai ( Tanaka Ken ) who “owes” Mitchum.

One small problem, he’s no longer a Yakuza. He’s been out of the mob for years. When Mitchum finds out this unpleasant bit of inforation and blurts out “I can’t ask you to do that!” Tanaka Ken quietly replies: “You already have.”

The aged warriors go to it again. A great story of love and betrayal. Acted in a style of understated whispers between flashing katanas that bring the house down.

The movie is excellent. It really rates 5 stars for its strong plot, acting, direction, and camera work. The theme throughout is honor, and obligation. But pay attention to the “obligation” part. There is the notion that we are defined by our obligations, a concept that is vastly different between east and west. Personally, I think we could use a little more of the Japanese context of obligation in our own society and culture. And this movie’s depiction appeals to something in me that is, admittedly, fundamentally romantic.

My problem with the video is this: there are omissions from this version that were in the first version I saw. Some footage has been edited out, and although its omission does not adversely affect the story line, it was an effective contribution. Also, there are sections where subtitles are omitted. (My most recent viewing was in the company of a friend who speaks Japanese and English, and they provided their own comments regarding the accuracy, not necessarily of the English rendering, but more on what the Japanese “should” have been in the context.) Mind you, the movie is in English, with some segments of Japanese dialog. But it was disappointing that some of the most eloquent dialog wasn’t even translated.

Maybe someone, somewhere, will grant my wish and produce an unexpurgated version on DVD …

Fans have had to tolerate blurred and wash out VHS bootlegs lacking subtitles for years, but that is all about to approach to an waste with this exquisite presentation of the film uncut on DVD thanks to Synapse, the company who brought us the awesome “Vampyros Lesbos” DVD among others.

First about the film for those who haven’t seen it: Attractive Swedish cult siren Christina Lindberg plays Frigga who cannot articulate after a childhood trauma. One day she misses her bus and accepts a scurry and later a dinner date, from a rather shady character who kidnaps her. After getting her crooked on heroine, he forces her to work as a prostitute, and gouges her look out when she refuses her first client. Frigga saves her money and pays for lessons in martial arts, urge car driving and shooting, before taking her revenge on those cruel customers who venerable and abused her and her pimp.

As the title suggests this is one viciously bleak film. From the barren wind swept Swedish landscape and eerie electric accept to the hard core sex scenes and view gouge scene which was created using a staunch cadaver, “Thriller” is a truly potent cult shocker. A lot of the credit for the films impact must go to Lindberg for her intelligent performance. She draws the viewer in apt from the beginning, making us feel her peaceful suffering and relish her revenge. Her color co-ordinated glance patches were later ripped off for Darryl Hannah’s character in “Demolish Bill”, but this is the true deal. Lindberg is a truly striking and unforgettable cult figure, carrying a shotgun and dressed all in sad she is enigmatic and certainly makes shameless plagiarizer Tartino’s work gaze pale by comparison.

In conclusion, while this film certainly isn’t for everybody, it is in my thought the single most significant cult DVD release this year! Unfortunately this DVD edition is itsy-bitsy to 25,000 units, so I would suggest preordering now!

P.S. 4-disc “Dawn of the Unimaginative” is another must believe!

I got a copy of the DVD today and though I’d add a few first hand comments to the review I’d already written now that I have personally seen the DVD. Hope it’s agreeable……

As soon as I opened the case I was imediately impressed with the fair color insert containing linear notes and some nice photo’s of sweetheart Chirstina Lindberg. The menu’s on the disc were chilly and exploring them I found all the vast special features promised. The photo galleries were especially suitable, I really liked the cute shots of Christina relaxing on space in between takes.

The record quality is astronomical, while being overall a cramped soft (a few seconds seem to have being taken from a deteriated print) the colors are rich and vibrant. After only seeing the film on sloppy bootleg VHS copies, indeed viewing Synapse’s DVD is as though viewing the film for the first time, aesthetic!

Once again, I cannot recommend this one enough.

Looking abet at the 1970s from the distance of nearly three decades reveals a number of troubling revelations. The ghastly spasms known as disco came to the fore during this decade. Then there was the clothing, a toxic mix of fluorescent colors matched with retch inducing stylistic innovations. And don’t forget about the hairstyles–oh, the hairstyles! The less said about haircuts during the decade of Watergate and lines at the gas pump, the better for all eager. There is one redeeming feature of the 1970s, however, and that is the stout blossoming of the exploitation film. The sleaziest films ever made came out between 1970 and 1979; films packed to the rafters with gore and highly stylized violence, often mixed with pretty babes prancing about in their birthday attire. I idea I’d seen most of these films over the past ten years or so, but I was scandalous. It took the introduction of DVD to bring forth one of the sleaziest, vilest pieces of exploitation cinema ever made in the western world. That movie is Bo Arne Vibenius’s “Thriller: A Cruel Recount,” sometimes referred to by the title of its censored version, “They Call Her One Peer.” Whatever name it carries, this is one sick, over the top movie.

“Thriller” follows the exploits (and the exploitation of) one Scandinavian cutie named Madeleine (Christina Lindberg) . Her life on a Swedish farm leaves a lot to be desired. The victim of a vicious assault as a child, Madeleine developed muteness as a psychological defense to the memory of this aggression. She’s tranquil quiet all these years later when, as a fetching young lady, she takes trips to a doctor for treatments to restore her bid. It is while she’s waiting by the side of the road to salvage a bus for one of these trips that the greasy Tony (Heinz Hopf) rolls up in a splendid automobile. He readily offers our young heroine a poke to the doctor, which she unfortunately accepts, but his intentions are far from obedient. Tony is a procurer of young ladies for a local harridan hotel, and he saw dollar signs (Krona signs? ) after spotting Madeleine. He takes her out for a bite to eat and then convinces the girl to advance encourage to his dwelling for a status of rest and relaxation. Tony hastily subdues the girl with injections of hard drugs, and keeps her locked up in his apartment for weeks on extinguish so he can insure Madeleine develops a hardcore addiction. Sick stuff, for certain, but things score worse in a rush when Lindberg’s character heads to the brothel.

A highly sought after prize for both male and female customers, Madeleine soon learns the cost of resisting her fresh profession when she attacks her first client. Exasperated by her imprudent behavior, Tony shows up with a scalpel and removes one of Madeleine’s eyes–shown in nauseating terminate up. What follows is fair as poor, as we survey Lindberg’s character working her device through a number of customers. The camera hides nothing from us during this fragment of the film; it’s as hardcore as you can come by. Madeleine bides her time through these indignities, however, carefully stowing away money for her future plans of retribution against her myriad enemies. She eventually manages to slide away from her space of employment for classes in self-defense, learns how to shoot a variety of firearms with a trained professional, and even takes driving classes. When we finally examine our gal don a long dusky coat to match her behold patch, we realize we’re seeing “One Recognize” about to embark on a bloody spree of revenge. She shotguns to death several of the abusive men in her life, and in one scene deals with a couple of cops by beating them to bloody pulps. Madeleine gets her revenge, but will her future be any better than her past?

Oh boy! You’ve not seen exploitation until you’ve lived through “Thriller.” This film has every conceivable debauchery acted out in bulky notion. I’ll skip accurate over the scenes in the brothel and accumulate straight to the hyperstylized violence. Nearly every act of vengeance carried out by Madeleine takes situation in extremely dull motion, so we the audience can scrutinize the substantial squibs blowing inaugurate and the body cartwheeling through site. The scenes enthralling the beat down with the cops are virtual ballets of flying fists and spurting blood. Literally. You can peruse grand strands of the red stuff arcing through the air after Lindberg delivers a blow to the chin or nose. The whole thing runs on for something like five plump minutes. Once you rep past the sleaze and violence, you’ll likely explore this bright woman named Christina Lindberg, an actress who can truly emote with honest a peep or a gesture. She’s an amazingly shapely young woman who will send your heart into paroxysms of joy. It’s tough to eye this charming gal undergo such brutal treatment at the hands of thugs, so don’t be surprised if you pick up yourself rooting for her to occupy beefy revenge on these gorillas.

As for the film itself, there’s some controversy surrounding Synapse’s release of the film. Director Vibenius supposedly opposed his film coming out on DVD, and he fought Synapse at every turn. Nonetheless, the company performed an admirable transfer (although some footage looks quite grainy) and turned up some alternate footage and assorted cutting room floor snippets to throw in as extras on the DVD. A photo gallery, liner notes, film bios, and a big number of trailers accompany these supplements, with most of the trailers carrying the nick version title “They Call Her One Contemplate.” Any exploitation fan worth his or her salt needs to see “Thriller” at some point, fair to say that they’ve seen it. It’s a strong drink indeed, but one worth taking if you like this sort of thing.

Great movie that shows the changes in Chilean society, how women had taken over the role of men in a worn macho society. It shows also how Chile is the beginning of changes in Latin America, more women climbing up the ladder in the work force and in the unfaithful role in society as men worn to do.

Esta pelicula es una gran obra de arte de Chile. El rodaje es estupendo y todos los personajes perfectos y muy reales. Hay mucha desnudez femenina y masculina en esta pelicula por el cual hay que advertir que no se puede presentar a menores. La pelicula es basada en el fenomeno de la infidelidad matrimonial y sexual. Dicen que en Chile (un pais bello) 62 porciento de las mujeres casadas son infieles. No se si ese comentario es cierto porque realemente, eso si que es mucho. Las infidelidades en esta pelicula causan dolores del corazon a las victimas y las victimas son muchas. Todas las familias afectadas por la infidelidad sufren en diferentes niveles y tambien hay situaciones donde las confrontaciones son muy fuertes. La pena es que, como en muchas situaciones, los culpables solo piensan en si mismas, sin pensar en las consecuencias ni a los que hieren, y luego intentan culpar a los demas por sus crimenes. Ciertamente, la infidelidad es un crimen de pasion que muy pocas veces es perdonado ni olvidado. El personaje de Prieto, al ser descubrido que tenia una relacion secreta con el marido de la directora del canal donde es reportera, pasa una verguenza muy humillante y dolorosa. Esta es una pelicula muy bien hecha, muy bien escrita y muy bien actuada. El paisaje es hermoso, mostrando que la ciudad de Santiago es preciosa. Como os he dicho esta es una gran obra de arte. Lo que falta en este DVD es que no tiene mucho de extras pero si tiene filmografias selectas para poder ver a estos actores en otras peliculas. Por su puesto, hay que apoyar a los nuestros, no?
