My husband and I love to try new dishes and Happy Hour provides us with the perfect chance. Now we've never been to Spain, but word has it that their tradition of Tapas, or little dishes, is much like our happy hours here in Orange County, California.

The best part of attending these events is that you get to try food that might otherwise be quite a bit more expensive when served in the dining area, plus the atmosphere is quite a bit more relaxed. Sometimes, depending on the restaurants, you even meet some very interesting people and have entertainment. Most require you to eat in the bar and order a drink, but I haven't been to one yet that insisted I have one that is alcohol based.

Our frugal college-aged son was the first to introduce us to one of the best deals in Orange County. Unfortunately, while the restaurant is owned by the same company, they've changed the name and took away one of the best deals in the county! It was Thaifoon's at the Irvine Spectrum. It was the “1,2,3″ deal. Appetizers for literally $1,$2, or $3 from 4 until closing! Now the restaurant is called Ling and Louie's. The menu is still a bargain and the patio is the place to be. The prices have raised to being 1/2 price. But there are still plenty of choices. Service can be spotty, so at this place, I wouldn't suggest going on a weekend. Too crowded and the staff is overworked!

Any of the county's Claim Jumper Restaurants have an excellent happy hour menu. If they're not too busy, they will also be happy to grill some of the fried foods. Free popcorn is always around. The best part, from 4-7 they usually have $3 off any appetizer-including the single sized pizzas! If you want, you can order off the regular menu. Just remember, this is a very popular chain, so come early and don't be picky about what table you get-just be glad you're able to get one!

the Beachfire Grill has two locations. One in Ladera Ranch, one by, what else, one of the county's many beaches! My husband loves to order the bacon, cheddar cheeseburger. It comes with fries for $6. If you order the same thing off the dinner menu in the dining room-double the price. I like a few of the salads. The atmosphere is just what you'd expect. The Ladera Ranch unit usually has live entertainment. The artwork is for sale. If you love beach scenes-this place is a treasure.

The Yard House has several restaurants in the county. All have a bustling atmosphere, plenty of choices and are quite loud. But there's plenty on the happy hour menu to chose from-all good. This is a great place to take a large group and share.

Most of the El Toritos, El Torito Grills, Acalpaulco and other Mexican restaurants in Orange County have liberal appetizer/happy hour menus. The most popular: Margarita Mondays and Taco Tuesdays!

If you're hungry and looking for something tasty, different and you're on a budget-make sure you come out and visit Orange County, California!

MySpace stalkers read your MySpace comments religiously, contact you from various accounts when you block them, are on your page more than you are, and sometimes they even make up new pages with your pictures on it. They make you want to close your page altogether, but why should you have to? Here are a few steps to try to eliminate some of the MySpace stalkers and keep your page.

The Crank Visitors: So far I've had one. He contacted me to tell me I look like a receptionist from the VD clinic he went to and gave me blow-by-blow details of how horny he was. I sent him to my junk mail filter blog, and he contacted me again debating about how he was just trying to hold a conversation. He sent me another message talking about how bored and horny he still was. Blocked! He started a new account and contacted me again. I reported it to MySpace using the Report Abuse link at the bottom of the page. MySpace closed that account, and he started another one doing the same thing. If you deal with someone like this, just come to the realization that there will always be idiots out there and ignore them. There's no limit on how many users you can block on MySpace. Use it. Whenever you put yourself out there publicly to the Internet, get ready for everybody else to do the same. If it really bothers you that much that someone is contacting you, start a new page and just don't put any personal information or pictures on it. It will make it harder for them to find you. Or, make your page private and don't put your picture in the default section. Absolutely don't put your real name in your user profile.

Identity Theft: One very strange guy bought my novel through PayPal. For those of you not familiar with PayPal, you can sell and buy merchandise like it's a marketplace, and you have the option to mail the items yourself. But this guy not only bought bought one of my books; he put my photo and my book cover on his page without my permission and linked my work to another author's page. Then, he contacted one of my MySpace friends to go out with him and had me in his top list, which I didn't approve. He posted me through HTML, not the regular Add Me As A Friend way. She assumed I knew him and figured he must be an okay guy, but then later contacted me to get the scoop on him. I had no idea he was trying to get dates through my page and linking my book to another author for exposure. I was livid. I contacted him repeatedly to take it off and reported it to MySpace. He ignored me, but then when I pointed out that I had his mailing address where the book was to be sent, taa daa! Book and my picture were deleted. If someone is posting information about you on their page and you know them, look at that as the opportunity to share information about them as well. If MySpace won't do anything about someone posting your information on their page, make your own page and dedicate it to the person who is posting information about you. Clarify what's right and what's wrong and send the link to everyone on that person's friends list. Yes, it's time consuming, but the only person who can represent for you is you so I think you're justified in doing so. In my case, I lucked out because the guy didn't realize I could see his mailing address on the book he bought, but if he hadn't, I would've started a page clarifying that my friends should not contact him.

Stalker Ex Boyfriend/Girlfriend: I haven't dealt with this guy yet, but I sympathize with those who have. If you have a boyfriend/girlfriend who reads your comments more than you do, lays up on your page more than you, memorizes every single photo in your MySpace profile, and is forever sending you messages, please block this person and make your profile private. Some people make their profile private just because they don't really enjoy strangers contacting them or want people to see what's on their page, but you definitely should if you feel like your safety is being compromised just from having an innocent webpage. (Note: If you're trying to cheat on your boyfriend/girlfriend, it is absolutely not a good idea to put the other woman/man in your top list and definitely don't approve the flirtatious comments they send. It will only get your significant other even more amped up and ready to stalk your page.)

Lonely Folks: This person will constantly badger you into dating them regardless of whether your page does not say that you're looking for serious relationships or dating on MySpace. He/she will probably try to convince you that they're an exception to the rule, and you should give them a shot. I'm not knocking persistence. There are plenty of people who play hard to get. But, if you're really not interested in this person, send them a message making that perfectly plain, and be firm about it. Don't give them any room to think that there is a possibility. If they still continue to bug you, mark their messages as spam. If it goes on after that, block them. I've found the most efficient way to handle people who do this is to create a blog about it. Whenever someone sends me a message about relationships or dating and my page is perfectly clear about only wanting to do networking, I send them to my MySpace Junkmail Filter Blog. 80% of the time, they won't respond again. If they do, that's when I click the block key. Some of the lonely folks got hip to deleting their message boxes so you can't find it on their page to block them. MySpace made it even easier for you to block people because now you can block them directly in that message and you don't have to go to their page.

Music Stalker: I don't know where this hidden memo is, but in the four MySpace pages I've had, I've come to the realization that a gigantic amount of people on MySpace are there to promote their music. I'm not knocking that idea, especially when I'm promoting my product too, but it gets extremely aggravating when you're constantly getting automated messages to check out someone's music, add them as a friend, tell your friends about them, rate the songs, visit their webpage, come to the club they're at, blah blah blah. I wish there was an option on MySpace that you could check so musicians would know who is interested in rating music and who is not. One way that I got those music listening adds to calm down was by going to Account Settings, Privacy Settings, and click the boxes next to the groups you don't want to send you Group Invites or Event Invites. Also, check the box that says Friend Invites-No Bands. This way, you can stop the serial invites from rappers, rockers, and other musicians who send you invitations and haven't read a word on your page. I'm all about mutual networking though. If I find a musician and I'm genuinely interested in their music as much as they're interested in my book, that's an automatic add. But if it's a me-me-me user, blocked!

Password Hackers: Tom has put up various alerts about MySpace phishers. Please read those. They're important. Subscribe to his blogs. They're very informative, and they give you the latest updates on what has been done with MySpace. In addition, take his advice. Do not click on links and then re-log in. You should never have to re-log into MySpace from clicking on a link. If you have to re-log in, type in www.myspace.com again in your Internet browser. Don't approve of any websites that will automatically put things on your page just by putting in your password. When you give them your password, you're giving them permission to put whatever they want on your page. If you don't know how to add coding yourself, ask one of your MySpace friends. There are plenty of techies on here. If I can help you, feel free to ask me directly. But the ringtone and purse bag comments have got to stop. One of the people on my friends list had her page hacked into, and the person cursed out every single person in her friends list. Don't lose friends to hackers. Change your password periodically.

We can complain about the faults of MySpace, but we still have to remember that this is a free site, so technically Tom or the staff don't have to do anything to help you with your page. Hell, Tom has 185,625,203 friend who are probably running into the same issues, and that's not even including the folks who deleted his automatic add when they joined. You can always leave MySpace. MySpace chooses to do help you with abusive isses because the more users they have, the more advertisers that will come their way. Although MySpace Customer Service still sucks, help MySpace out a little bit by not making them do your extra work. Take advantage of the options that they've given you to make your MySpace experience a little saner.

Reminder:

Use the blocked user option. (Click on that person's profile, in the message box, click the option on the right-hand side or click Block User directly in the message)

Take advantage of the privacy settings. (Click Account Settings, Privacy Settings, and put a checkmark next to each thing you are not interested in)

Report Abuse (In the bottom of each profile, there is a link to do so and explain why you feel this page is abusive. Definitely report harassment, hate speech, or inappropriate content if you see it.)

As a realist, I know and understand that not everyone is meant to be that perfect size 6. I also know that not everyone has hours of time per week to work out, let alone get to a gym. So what does the average, eat on the go, stressed out to the max, time crunched person do to stay fit? Well, the following tips and tricks may not make us all fitness magazine cover models, but they will help us to be just that much slimmer. Of course the most important thing to remember when you make the decision to change your diet and/or add exercise to your routine is to talk to your doctor. Every person’s body is unique and yours may need special considerations. The first thing that you need to learn, the plain and simple truth, is this….are you ready…you must burn more calories than you consume in order to lose weight. If you take in more calories than you burn you will gain weight or, at the very least, continue to maintain the same weight. This is true regardless of the type of diet plan that you are on. Shake diets, grapefruit diets, green food diets, all of them take calories in to consideration when meal planning. The creators of these diet fads understand this rule and have only repackaged it to make it look like a new idea. The truth is that if a diet does not drop your calorie intake below the number of calories you are burning, than it simply will not work. These fad diets aside, the healthiest way to burn more calories than you consume is to exercise regularly and regulate your caloric intake to a healthy level. So, how do you know how many calories you should be consuming daily in order to stay healthy and still lose weight? The best way to find out your ideal calorie in take is to consult a doctor or nutritionist. If you are unable to do that, then there are plenty of sites on the internet that will do a general calculation for you. You fill out a form with your height, weight, age, and gender then the site will calculate the amount of calories the average person that size needs to consume in order to stay healthy. A very good site to visit is the Discovery Health website (http://health.discovery.com). However, I strongly recommend consulting a professional who can tailor this number specifically to you and your needs. Next, we need to look at how to fit calorie counting in to your fast paced lifestyle. What I try to do is to look at my calorie in-take on a weekly level. I have found that this helps me to stay more on track with my diet. I don’t beat myself up over that slice of chocolate cake that I just had to have yesterday. I can just eat light today and maybe a little light tomorrow to make up for it. If you try to keep your weekly calories low instead of your daily calories it is much easier to stay on top of your diet and you are less likely to give up. Most people abandon their diets because of one or two days worth of slip ups. By working with a weekly calorie in-take diet, things are much more flexible and easier to maintain. This brings us to our first calorie cutting tip. Try replacing your normal latte with heavy cream or sugar packed soda with its respective diet replacement or better still water! You would be shocked how many calories you can cut from your diet by replacing high calorie drinks with low or no calorie drinks. One 12fl oz can of cola has 155 calories as apposed to a diet cola which has none, that’s right 0. To put this in to perspective, you can burn some where around 150 calories by taking a leisurely half hour walk. That means that if you take a 30 minute stroll around the neighborhood you still have not burned off that one can of soda. It hardly seems worth it when you look at it that way, right? Now, I know what you are thinking, if you are not a water drinker, but there are a wide variety of flavored water drinks on the market now. They are a great alternative to sodas and sports drinks. Give them a try and I think that you may be surprised by the flavor. You will also feel good knowing that you burned 5 or 6 calories by lifting and swallowing that water with no calorie intake from it. See, you are already ahead of the game. There are also many things you can do to cut the amount of calories that you take in from meals as well. I have found that the easiest place for me to cut calories is from my lunch at work. It is, as it is for most adults, the only meal a day that I have complete control over. This does take some discipline if, like me, you work in an office that orders out a lot. If this is the case try to order salads or other light foods, if that is not an option try controlling your portions. When you can’t cut calories by changing what you eat then you cut calories by changing how much you eat. Most of us eat what we like and therefore we will eat until we are completely full. Instead, try just eating until you are satisfied and no longer hungry. Portion control is another great way to cut calories from your diet at home, where it is harder to control what you eat. When you have a husband or wife and maybe even kids involved in your meal planning it becomes less about your diet and more about a quick meal that everyone likes. Not everyone has the luxury of cooking a separate meal for themselves; working adults today just simply do not have that kind of time on their hands. Cutting your calories will make you lose weight, it will not however make you fit. In order to get fit we need physical activity. You need to build and tone your muscles. The more lean muscle mass that you have the more calories you will burn at rest. Meaning the higher your metabolism rate will be. Taking walks is probably the easiest and most under rated forms of exercise. If you can leave your house and walk away from it for 15 minutes then walk the 15 minutes back, you have just exercised for a half an hour. If you are 150lbs. and you do this at a brisk pace you will burn around 200 calories. If you can do this 3 times a week you have just burned 600 calories for the week. As time wears on your should increase your speed, all the way up to a jog. You can roughly judge your progress by how far you make it from the house in your 15 minute time limit. There are hosts of ways to boost the amount of calories that you burn during your daily routine. You can burn a lot of calories a day just by keeping yourself moving at work. Instead of emailing a co-worker walk over to their desk. When you are at your desk, keep your legs moving. When you go grocery shopping, don’t skip any isles, walk them all. Bag your own, and make the bags fairly heavy if you can. Instead on sitting on the couch and watching your favorite TV show, try laying on the floor and doing some sit ups or doing a couple of squats. I used to work out during every commercial break. There is an almost endless amount of ways to add physical activity to your everyday life. You however, are the main ingredient in your quest to getting fit. Though you do not have to spend hundreds of dollars or hours of time at the gym you do have to make wise choices when it comes to your food, and you do have to take the time to exercise. Just remember that small changes can make a big difference.

Little Rock, like many Southern towns and even cities, did not have a good selection of restaurants that served really fine continental cuisine thirty or forty years ago. In the 1990s, however, the scene really began to change and for a multitude of reasons, cities began to experience a real expansion in dining options, both in the number of restaurants and in the variety of cuisine offered. Today, Little Rock has some lovely restaurants that serve interesting, imaginative cuisine in any number of styles.

http://www.bravenewrestaurant.com/
The Brave New Restaurant, owned and “chefed” by Peter Brave for over 16 years now, has been consistently voted Little Rock's Best.by several media publications. Aside from offering a lovely riverside patio for enjoying meals outdoors, this restaurant is, indeed, true to its name. Brave serves some very inventive dishes and tends to really concentrate heavily on very fresh seafood. There is fish on just about every course, even at lunch, where avocado and crabmeat are served on Bibb lettuce as a salad, or grilled tuna with walnuts tops a bed of mixed salad greens. He has partnered with a company in Arkansas that is producing its own brand of fresh “Arkansas-grown” shrimp called “Brave New Shrimp,'” and Peter says that it beats any other shrimp in a taste test. His lunch menu runs about $8-$14, so is quite reasonable given the quality of the food served. Pinenut Salmon, Pecan Trout, and Tilapia with Gran Marnier are some favorites on his dinner entrees. He serves duck and lamb and beef tenderloin with equal creativity. Salads are served fresh with every dinner entree. The price range here is around $17-$25. Lunch is served Mon.-Fri, 11-2; dinner is Mon.-Sat, 5-10. They can also serve private banquets for up to 50 people in their private banquet room.
2300 COTTONDALE LANE
SUITE 105
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS 72202
TEL 501-663-2677

Acadia is another popular restaurant that serves “eclectic” contemporary American food and it has received good reviews on several web sites. The chef is New Orleans-trained and the staff is said to be not only knowledgeable but very efficient. They serve a prix fixe menu on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the average price for an entree of around $15, according to Trip Advisor. I believe they've been open around 7 or 8 years now, so it's definitely stood the test of time that does most inferior restaurants in. The dining areas are understated, but the outdoors seems to have the most appeal because of the several decks and very romantic patio area for outdoor dining. They have a very good wine list. Call to see about reservations or to hear a sampling of their menu: 501-603-9630.
Acadia
3000 Kavanaugh Blvd.
Little Rock, AR 72205

http://www.sonnywilliamssteakroom.com/
Sonny Williams isn't what the name implies. Yes, they serve the best top-quality steaks, but a master chef's hand is at play in the whole menu. Turtle Soup, Lobster and Artichoke Heart Bisque are hardly the usual steak house fare! Fried calamari, lump crab cakes and frog legs are some of the appetizers, none of which is over $14. The salad offerings are quite ample. Now, as to the dinner menu's entrees. All the steaks and all entrees are really pricey. The chataubriand, for instance, will set a diner back $54.95, and a porterhouse costs $38.95. The range of other entrees is from around $23 all the way to $59.95 for 1 1/2 lb. Alaskan King Crab Legs! They charge $5.75 to split an order, though, so I have a feeling that these dinners are quite large enough to split. Their seafood selections mirror the inventiveness of the appetizers and sound delicious, also in that general price range. The Wine Spectator awarded this restaurant and Award of Excellence for its extensive and very fine wine list. It is extremely varied, extensive and expensive. See for yourself on the web site.
There's a bar room that has live piano music Mon.-Sat. This place is evidently THE place for people to propose marriage or take important out-of-towners they want to really impress. They advise reservations: 501-324-2999.
500 President Clinton Avenue, Suite100
Little Rock, Arkansas 72201
(In the River Market District)

CD-ROM is the offspring of video disc technology developed in the 1960s and early 1970s, before the advent of the home VCR. The goal was to store movies on the disc. Different companies have a number of methods for storing video signals, including the use of a needle to respond mechanically to grooves in a disc, much like vinyl LP record does. the consumer products industry spent a great deal of money developing the different technologies, including several approaches to optical storage. Then they spent years fighting over which approach should become standard. The surviving format is one called laser vision. By the time laser vision emerged as the winner, the competing developers had not only spent enormous sums of money but had also lost important market opportunities. These hard lessons were put to use in the subsequent development of CD audio and CD-ROM.

From the outset, there was an interest in using a laser vision discs to do more than just a record movies. The laser vision format supports recording in both a constant linear velocity (CLV) space format that maximizes storage capacity and a constant angular velocity (CAV) format that enables fast seek performance. By using the CAV format to access individual video frames quickly, a number of organizations, including MIT media lab, produced at a prototype interactive video discs that could used to teach and entertain.

In the early 1980s, a number of firms began looking at the possibility of storing digital, textual information all laser vision discs. Laser vision stores data in an analog form; it is, after all, storing an analog video signal. Different firms came up with different ways of encoding digital information in analog form so it could be stored on the disc. The capabilities demonstrated in the prototypes and early, narrowly distributed products were impressive. The videodisc has a number of performance characteristics that make it a technically more desirable media than the CD-ROM; in particular, one can build drives that seek quickly and deliver information from the disc at a high rate of speed. But, reminiscent of earlier disputes over the physical format of the videodisc, each of these pioneers in the use of laser vision discs as computer peripheral had incompatible encoding schemes and error correction techniques. There was no standard format, and none of the firms was large enough to impose its format over the others true sheer marketing muscle. Potential buyers were frightened by the lack of a standard; consequently the market never grew.

During this same period Phillips and Sony began work on its way to store music on optical discs. Rather than storing the music in the kind of analog form used on video discs, they developed a digital data format. Philips and Sony had learned hard lessons from the expensive standards battles over video discs. This time they worked with other players in the consumer products industry to develop a licensing system that resulted in. the emergence of CD audio as a broadly accepted, standard format as soon as the first discs and players were introduced. CD audio appeared in the United States in early 1984. CD-ROM, which is a digital data format built on top of the CD audio standard, emerged shortly thereafter. The first commercially available CD-ROM drives appeared in 1985.

Not surprisingly, the firms that were delivering digital data on laser vision discs saw CD-ROM as it a threat to their existence. They also recognized, however, that CD-ROM promised to provide what had always eluded them in the past; standard a standard physical format. Anyone with a CD-ROM drive was guaranteed that he or she could find and three sector off of any disc manufactured by any firm. For a storage medium to be used in publishing, standardization at such a fundamental level is essential.

What happened next is remarkable considering the history of standards and cooperation within industry. The firms that had been working on products to deliver computer data from videodiscs recognized that a standard physical format, such as that provided by CD-ROM, was not enough. A standard physical format meant that everyone would be able to read sectors off of any disc. .but computer applications to not more in terms of sectors; they store data in files. Having an agreement about finding sectors, without further agreement about how to organize the sectors into files, is like everyone agreeing on an alphabet without having settled on how letters are to be organized into words on a page. In late 1985 the firms emerging from videodiscs/digital data industry, all of which were relatively small, called together many of the much larger firms moving into the CD-ROM industry to begin work on a standard file system that would be built on top of the CD-ROM format. In a rare display co-operation, the different firms, large and small, worked out the main feature of a file system standard by early summer of 1986; that work has become an official international standard for organizing files on CD-ROM.

The CD-ROM industry is still young, though in the past years it has begun to show signs of maturity: it is moving away from concentration on such matters as disc formats were concerned with CD-ROM applications. Rather than focusing on the new medium in isolation, venders are seeing it is an enabling mechanism for new systems. As it finds more uses in a broader array of applications, CD-ROM looks like an optical publishing technology that will be with us over the long term.

Recordable CD drives make it possible for users to store information on CD. The price of the drives and the price of the blank recordable CDs make this technology very appealing for backup. Unfortunately, while the speed of CD readers has increased substantially, with 52X (52 times CD audio speed) as the current standard, CD recorders work on the same speed.

The latest technology for CDs is the DVD, which stands for digital video disc or Digital versatile disc. The Sony Corporation has developed DVD for the video market, especially for new high-definition TVs, but DVD is also available for storing files. The density of both tracks and bits has been increased to yield a sevenfold increase in storage capacity. DVD is also available in two sided medium that yields nearly 10 GB per disc.

As with every review I write, I began by sitting down, and quickly skimming through the first 10 or 20 seconds of each track on this album, before returning to the beginning to start listening in detail. During the skimming I got the feeling that this was an album I could really get into… there was just something so familiar about the whole vibe this joint seemed to be giving off – it was like sitting down to build with an old friend or something. At a time when a lot of Hiphop that’s coming out is built around MTV videos, and commercial stereotypes, its nice to be able to take things back to the essence without it seeming like an artist is “trying too hard” to take it back to the essence…

Right from the opening intro cuts, (the far-too-short ‘Jussa Playa’, and ‘Aural Sects’) the warm feelings just emanate from the speakers. Both are comprised of gorgeous little jazzy loops, that hook you in, welcoming you to sit down and chill with Dwight for a little while. The latter cut is a minute and a half glimpse into the intricacies of Bass D’s production methods and influences – coming off as a cousin of Tribe’s ‘Mr Muhammed’, with splatterings of the Beasties’ “Paul’s Boutique” signature of dropping vocal samples in anywhere and everywhere.

‘Antemeridian’ and ‘Postmeridian’ also provide evidence to back up Dwight’s claim to “have finally mastered the art of the MPC”, both being heavy on the headnod scale. ‘Antemeridian’ in particular stands out, and is really the first opportunity to hear D on the mic. Its hard not to draw a comparison with Pete Rock, not only due to the jazzy horn laden loops homeboy has hooked up, but also due to the fact that vocally they are incredibly similar.

The album continues with ‘How We Met’ and ‘Sanctuary’ – both a little more laidback that anything that’s come before. ‘How We Met’ is the first track to feature a guest – in this case its Edan, who also helped with the production for this joint. Over another mellow beat, Edan comes with some futuristic crazy type rhymes that are perhaps a little out of place over such a laidback beat. ‘Sanctuary’ meanwhile is constructed around a haunting vocal sample hooked up by DJ Pocket, and provides the closest examination so far of Dwight’s skills on the mic.

‘Subwoofer (Dumile)’ sounds like something that would sit comfortably at home on KMD’s “Mr Hood” album. No surprise when you realise that Dwight is down with MF Doom (formerly Zev Love X of KMD) and MF Grimm. Over a sprinkling of acoustic guitars, Bass D throws up references to his two MF pals, Monie Love, Spinderella, Funkytown Pros, and Timothy McVeigh… don’t worry it all makes sense when you hear it!

As you progress through the album its clear that Bass D is supremely skilled on the boards. If what you’ve already heard doesn’t convince you, then the middle portion of the album certainly should. ‘Truth To Light’ is all about an addictive Hammond organ loop and Nice & Smooth samples. Bass D even corrects Greg Nice’s infamous faux pas – on this cut, Dizzy Gillespie does indeed play a trumpet. ‘Real Music vs Bullshit’ meanwhile presses home the idea that “real music’s gonna last – all that other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow”, over an incredibly funky bassline that is the main driving force behind this track.

Its ‘August 25,2001′ though that really serves to illustrate the fact that Hiphop music IS music. When people try to write it off using the typical stereotypes that always get pulled out of the air… just throw this on and laugh in their face. This is beautiful music – with a PURPOSE to, as its an ode to the late Aaliyah. Echoing synths, understated snares that “double-snap” in all the right places, and a genius inclusion of snippets of Bonez Thugz vocals make this track the perfect tribute to the talented young vocalist.

The second half of the album is equally strong. ‘Reign Or Shine’ features a harder beat built around Lord Finesse and Mobb Deep samples, and really throws you for a loop when you hear guest emcee Rayna Shine (geddit?) spitting. Why? Well the fact that she sounds around 10 years old probably has something to do with it! Despite sounding tender in years she handles her mic duties extreme competently. As does MF Doom on the aptly named ‘Quite Buttery’ – ol’ Metal Face flows effortlessly in his usual uncopyable style over a nice jazz piano loop, before we proceed to Dwight’s shoutout to the incarcerated MF Grimm, ‘Blues For Percy Carey’. It really is quite an emotional little piece, and should be recognisable to many for its inspired use of the Hill Street Blues theme.

‘Seven Years’ manages to pull off the often difficult task of dropping a Hiphop cut with a catchy female hook, WITHOUT sounding like it was intentionally made to sound a little commercial. In this case its Dionne Farris on the chorus, as Bass D talks directly to his wife, thanking her for being with him, for having kids with him… stuff that a lot of rappers should take notes from. THIS is keeping it real.

J Rawls pops up on the boards on the sparse ‘Ohio Players’, as Dwight drops an almost spoken word freestyle, before the superb title track lurches into view, throwing up images of classic mid-90’s Hiphop classics, with its horn heavy break. Seriously – this beat is just fucking disgusting, and Bass D blesses it with a flow that matches perfectly. Boasting, braggadocio nonsense, that left me with a big smile on my grill.

The last few cuts round the album off perfectly – ‘Take Control’ is beautiful. Mary J Blige samples float in and out as a dreamy bassline takes centre stage, and Bass D turns the snares on and off like a tap, making this jump from rootsy soul joint to upbeat banger and back. Meanwhile ‘Coming Soon’ is a crafty ploy to hide a bonus track in among the end of album silence. Its definitely worth skipping forward through the quiet to hear it – its an instrumental mishmash of synths, horns, and stern sounding broadcast announcers that would really soud quite ill with some lyrics laid over the top.

Its hard to find fault at all with much of the album. There’s really only a couple of tracks that I can say I didn’t get into as much as the others – ‘Blackman Dreams’ has its heart in the right place, but the production here is a little bland. Or maybe it just seems that way because the preceding tracks have built the levels of expectation so highly. ‘No Time For Fakin’ (Part 2)’ features Dwight singing rather than spitting, and although there’s a familiarity about the music, (an electro-tinged version of the JB’s ‘Same Beat’), it all seems a little TOO experimental. Saying that though, it is one that will grow on me – its already starting to! The only other minor bug for me was the fact that several tracks were too damn short! It seemed that I was just getting into some of them, and all of a sudden they ended. A minor point really, and one which is really negated by the fact that the track coming right behind was normally equally good.

So a round of applause for Dwight Farrell. If this doesn’t feature in many peoples’ top ten albums of 2002, then there’s something wrong with your collective ears. This is easily one of the best albums I have heard so far this year, and there’s nothing else to do but give it the high marks it obviously deserves. You NEED this.

Want to find the perfect job? Wonder how to get employers to notice you? Then you need to have the perfect resume. Here is a guide to on how to make the perfect resume. Making a resume can sometimes be a difficult task for a person especially when they have never made one before. Anyone can make a resume, even if you don’t have any work experience. Here are the tips to the perfect resume.

Tip 1: Have the right size text

When making a resume it is always appropriate to have the right size text. Employers look for resumes that are easy to read. Never have the text size on your resume less than 10 and more than 12.

However there is one exception to text size. This exception is for your name. The text size for your name should be around 24-26. The name is supposed to be bigger than the other text on your resume. This is important because you want employers to notice you.

Tip 2: Margins

Margins are important to your resume because it helps format how it looks. Depending on how much text and information you have on your resume the margins can differ. If you have less text on your resume then the margins can be a little bit bigger, if your have more text then the margins can be smaller so you can have more room.

Tip 3: Length and Style

Most professional resumes are usually only one page not including cover letter and references. The reason you’re resume should only be one page is because most employers glance at your resume for 30 seconds. If a resume is too long employers will not look at it.

You make notice that different computer programs offer templates for resumes. These templates can be helpful however it is more professional and creative if you make your own resume on a word document. Always type your resume on a computer, and NEVER write it. Also instead of printing your resume on regular white page use resume paper that you can purchase at a store.

Tip 4: Layout and Format

The layout and format of a resume is very important. Here are the things you should definitely put on your resume in this order.

Name, Address, Contact Information
Always put your name, address, and contact information on the top of your resume

Objective

When writing your resume always put an objective for the position you are applying for. An example of an objective can be: To obtain a sales position, or Interested in an internship in marketing. Make sure your objective is clear and right to the point. The objective should be stated in one sentence.

Education

The next thing should put is any education you have. This includes high school, college, and etc. There you should state the school you went to, the years you attended, major or what diploma or degree you received. You can also mention your GPA, and classes that are related to the position you are applying for. Schools should be listed in chronicle order by year.

Experience

Experience is probably one of the main important parts of a resume. A lot of employers look for experience. Here you can put any work and volunteer experience. Put the company or place you volunteered for, dates, position, and describe what you did in these positions. Make sure to also list these in chronicle order by date, recent first.

Skills

Next you can list any special skills you have relating to the position these can include languages you know.

References

A new U.S. government report says that 2006 was the hottest year on record for the United States, and that the increase in global warming and El Niño both played a role.

December 2006 was the fourth warmest December in the United States since record-keeping began in 1895, according to the report, which was issued by the government's National Climatic Data Center. Five states had their warmest December ever on record, and not one single state was colder than average for the month. Six other months were also much warmer than average.

Both El Niño and global warming due to greenhouse gases played a role. According to the government's report, “The unusually warm start to this winter reflected the rarity of Arctic outbreaks across the country as an El Niño episode continued in the equatorial Pacific. A contributing factor to the unusually warm temperatures throughout 2006 also is the long-term warming trend, which has been linked to increases in greenhouse gases. This has made warmer-than-average conditions more common in the U.S. and other parts of the world. It is unclear how much of the recent anomalous warmth was due to greenhouse-gas-induced warming and how much was due to the El Niño-related circulation pattern. It is known that El Niño is playing a major role in this winters short-term warm period.”

The Washington Post quotes Jay Lawrimore, chief of the climate monitoring branch of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as saying that “eople should be concerned about what we are doing to the climate.” He said, “Burning of fossil fuels is causing an increase in greenhouse gases, and there's a broad scientific consensus that is producing climate change.”

Worldwide, 2006 was the 6th hottest year on record. A recent report from the British government's Meteorological Office predicts that there is a 60% chance that 2007 will be the hottest year ever worldwide.

According to a press release from the Union of Concerned Scientists, “the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is the highest it has been in the past 650,000 years.” Dr. Brenda Ekwurzel, a climate scientist with the organization, said “Heat-trapping global warming gases remain in the atmosphere for decades or centuries. Realistically, we have to start fighting global warming in the next 10 years if we want to secure a safe environment for our children and grandchildren.”

	The Query

In considering the topic, “Did Serbian Inventor Nicola Tesla Suffer From Asperger's Syndrome?” we need to know two things. Firstly, who was Nicola Tesla, why is he of note so that we are discussing him, and what was any symptomatology he displayed? Secondly, What is Asperger's Syndrome and what aspects in particular would seem to identify any condition he might have had as Asperger's Syndrome?

The Man

There are other articles on the life of Nicola Tesla that are informative and concise, but for our purposes, I will say he was what some have called a Mad Scientist. An extremely bright, absorbed electrical engineer and inventor, largely responsible for the very electricity we have in the outlets of our houses, alternating current (ac), and he developed what is called polyphase current, which is generally used by industry. By no means was he limited to developing these, but these are arguably his most important contributions to society.

Tesla was the quintessential eccentric. Some would say, in fact, he went beyond that. Even in younger years, Tesla possessed the ability to memorize entire books. He also had the ability to visualize a project before even putting it to paper. In effect, he could construct something in his mind and observe how it would run. He exercised traits that some might attribute to various personality disorders. Because in later years he tended to be dominated by a desire to do things in certain ways according to certain numbers, it has been thought he may have suffered from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. However, I maintain these may be attributed to another possibility – that of Asperger's Syndrome.

The Condition

What is Asperger's Syndrome? Currently, AS is conceived as being a variety of autism. Unlike Kanner's view of autism, Asperger's involves children who start life, usually quite bright in intellect, or even brilliant (Hans Asperger described his young patients as “little professors”). There are certain aspects of their lives that are quite atypical. The senses may be heightened – particularly that of touch and of hearing – and the children tend to be non-communicative except in certain instances, when a topic they are obsessive about, is discussed. Then sufferers may be ebullient in their verbalizations, “bending your ear” on the topic. Usually the subject is one of a technical nature. In matters involving humans, they may show a complete or nearly complete lack of empathy.

It is well-known that some sufferers become fascinated with orderliness. They often will line things up, neatly, in a certain order.

The Comparison

I maintain that this sounds incredibly like Tesla. Tesla would neatly stack a prescribed number of linen napkins at each meal. He had an unbelievably heightened sense of hearing. Nicola Tesla said, in his autobiography, “It was here [in 1880] that I suffered the complete breakdown of the nerves to which I have referred. What I experienced during the period of the illness surpasses all belief. My sight and hearing were always extraordinary. I could clearly discern objects in the distance when others saw no trace of them. Several times in my boyhood I saved the houses of our neighbours from fire by hearing the faint crackling sounds which did not disturb their sleep, and calling for help. In 1899, when I was past forty and carrying on my experiments in Colorado, I could hear very distinctly thunderclaps at a distance of 550 miles. My ear was thus over thirteen times more sensitive, yet at that time I was, so to speak, stone deaf in comparison with the acuteness of my hearing while under the nervous strain.”

My Involvement

Why might I, the author of this brief article, think Nicola Tesla and Asperger's Syndrome go together? Perhaps I am putting myself too much into the picture. I suffered in the same fashion as Tesla. My hearing led to great difficulties for me. My sense was so heightened, once, when I absent-mindedly left my wristwatch in my room at bedtime, it drove me to distraction. I took the watch across the room and put it under piles of clothing in my dresser, and returned to bed. The ticking was loud and clear to me, and I had to get up again and remove the offending watch entirely. My son has Asperger's Syndrome, and I have come to realize that I apparently was not left unscathed by the same condition.

Oh, memory? While my short-term memory is atrocious, once I told someone to give read me a list of eighteen digits, then to repeat them slowly once, and I would say them back to him – backwards. I succeeded.

Can You Answer?

So am I an authority? No. I am a chemist not a doctor. But there are others out there who may be willing to consider my suggestion. If you are one of those, would you be willing to look into the matter so you can come to at least a likely medical answer to the question, “Did Famed Inventor Nicola Tesla Suffer From Asperger's Syndrome?”

Generation 1 Transformers I want to see get the Universe/ Classics treatment

Transformers Universe is a line of Transformers, using characters from the 80' toy line and remaking them today using modern technology. The result usually, when they are not simply re-issues, is a toy that looks at least as good as it did back then but, is far more play-with-able. Often these characters are directly taken from well known characters however sometimes they are lesser known in order to increase the number of toys for sale. The colors are much simpler and “real” world than in other toy lines like Transformers Animated. Universe and newly merged line Classics another similar Transformers line created Universe Classics 2.0, which does not follow any particular cartoon or comic series.

Transformers I would like to see given new life with modern/more futuristic vehicle modes and robot modes that are pose-able and fun. By Generation 1 I include not just US Generation 1 but, also the continued Japanese Generation 1 including; Headmasters, Super God Masterforce and Victory.

Cosmos: I would love to see a modern take on Cosmos. No need to change his alternate mode of flying saucer, just make the figure a deluxe (or even scout class) and make it pose-able. This was one of my favorite toys back in the day and to see it articulate and a deluxe would be awesome!

Warpath: I love the tank Transformers, and Warpath was the best! While he did have a mild case of something like Tourette Syndrome, he was quite fun for a little boy. Give him a deluxe mold and make him a German StuG 3, or maybe something futuristic like the XM1202 Mounted Combat System. I have heard rumor that Warpath may be coming to the Animated line, in which case that would be cool as I am pleasantly happy with the toy line so far.

Tracks: Tracks was a great character in the cartoon and the original toy was great because, not only was it a faithful representation of a then current Corvette but it could change into a flying Corvette. Beat that! The Alternators line a few years ago did a great job on the robot and Corvette but left out the flying mode. This time I would love to see it come back, although I would love it to be the new 2009 Corvette ZR-1 or even the C6.R, with the flying mode and still be very articulate! And flaming Autobot symbol is a requisite.

Rodimus Prime: While Hot Rod received a decent treatment in the Classics line that did include nice touches like a fold out saw on his hand. Rodimus Prime got a somewhat lackluster treatment in the much maligned Titanium line. The figure was badly proportioned and my experience with the toy line did not impress me. I would love to see Rodimus Prime get a classics treatment. A voyager size would be good, like Optimus. This one might be hard as Rodimus vehicle mode is nothing without his trailer. This is another one that may come to the Animated line, which may or may not work for Rodimus Prime.

Apeface: I loved the Horrorcons, two Decepticon Headmasters that were triple changers. Apeface could become a futuristic jet, a robotic gorilla and a robot. I had both as a kid and would love to see them get the Universe treatment. The jet was fine and would still look futuristic today, we just need a more realistic gorilla mode and great articulation for both gorilla and robot mode. Head Master ability is a must!

Snapdragon: I mentioned Apeface, now I have to throw in Snapdragon. This was my favorite of the two Horrorcons. Snapdragon's three modes were a futuristic jet, a robot and a robotic dragon. The Universe treatment would keep the three modes but would see the dragon looking a lot better and both dragon and robot become much more articulated. Headmaster ability is a must! If I had to pick between getting one or the other Horrorcon's remade, it would be this one.

Ricochet: Ricochet was a re-paint of Jazz released in the Headmasters series. Seeing an updated version in the Universe line would be cool. Especially if some kind of Porsche type mold could be acquired. Of course it would have to be a Targetmaster, using something more like the mini-cons of Armada fame. A little guy that turned into a gun, but was also at least a little pose-able would be great.

Nightbeat: In the comics Nightbeat was a street hardened detective who was not above using dirty tricks to get the information he needed. Nightbeat has had several figure releases, none of which has done him justice. Botcon 2008 has a limited edition Alternators version, but it will be a limited release. This would be a great guy to maybe release alongside Ricochet as they were both Porsches. Nightbeat however would be a Headmaster.

Darkwing and Dreadwind: We are already getting a universe treatment of Darkwing but, it is not a Powermaster, the inclusion of this feature would be really cool but, what would be best is to get Dreadwind and be able to combine to form the super-jet Dreadwing.

Quake: Quake was a Targetmaster tank from the Super God Masterforce series. Quake came with two Targetmaster buddies, Tiptop and Heater, either of which could replace his tank barrel and both of whom could combine to form a super weapon. The Universe Quake would retain both Targetmasters, who would get mini-con articulation, and Quake would become a newer, possibly conceptual tank, like the Russian Black Eagle MBT. The robot would then get Universe style articulation.

Motormaster: I liked Motormaster, I was not super hot on the combiners but I liked Motormaster. In the original stories Motormaster was created by Megatron to counter the dominance of Autobots on the road. He was a cold and cruel warrior who longed to take the title of king of the road from Optimus Prime. This would be an interesting one; it would likely need to be Voyager class size. It could even use the same, or a similar, mold to Rodimus Prime. Hasbro showed ingenuity with slightly altered Transformations for the Sideswipe/Sunstreaker twins, this would allow them to really flex their muscles. On Rodimus the cab, or at least the front end, would need to become the chest and on Motormaster the cab/front end would need to become the feet. Give him his original color scheme and make him pose-able and done deal! A great style to use would be Motormaster's Cybertronian truck mode from Dreamwave productions Transformers comics. His Cybertronian truck mode would work well for Motormaster and Rodimus Prime.

Jhiaxus: Another comic character, this one however did get a treatment in the Robots in Disguise line. The toy was a orangy repaint of a relatively lame Beast Machines mold. The Universe Jhiaxus would be a futuristic spacecraft (redundant I know) whose robot mode would have great articulation. Something to think about would be that since this guys character is somewhere in the Megatron level, maybe make him a triple changer with the third mode being a Cybertronian tank.

Now preferably all these guys would get at least deluxe class figures. Several like Cosmos and Warpath could possibly make do in Scout class and Rodimus Prime, Apeface and Snapdragon would likely necessitate something larger like Voyager class. The Transformers mythos has a lot of characters; from both the cartoon, movie and comic realms, so there is no need to only remake a limited number of characters. Plus when these characters get the reimagining it would be nice to attempt to incorporate original gimmicks, like the Headmaster on Nightbeat or Snapdragon, or Targetmaster for Ricochet and Rodimus Prime.

Thank you for reading.
